If you will be travelling a long distance we recommend that you make an appointment well in advance of your visit and before you arrange your travel.

Before your visit, we will ask for details of the records you wish to consult. You can gain an overview of the records we hold from this site, but you should also discuss your particular needs with us when you make your appointment.

We will ask you to complete an application for access form, agreeing to comply with our access and reading room regulations. On your first visit, you must also show photographic identification, such as a driving licence or passport, so that your application can be validated.

If you have any disabilities or special requirements, it may be helpful to notify us before your visit so that we can make any adjustments to meet your needs.
